Reception Class (Hedgehogs)
Welcome to Hedgehogs Class.
Welcome to Reception! In Reception, we have two classes: Hedgehogs Class and Squirrels Class. We are very lucky to have modern classrooms, with continuous provision opportunities for each area of learning. We also have a wonderful outdoor environment, to continue our learning outdoors.
In Hedgehogs Class, our teachers are Mrs Patis and Mrs Gasson. They works closely with our teaching assistant Mrs Smith. Inside our exciting, inviting and bright classroom we carry out whole class sessions alongside adult led and child initiated activities. We take the children’s interests on board and plan our learning around this as well as following some particular topics which also incorporate the seven areas of learning in the Early Years Framework. Each day we deliver English, maths and phonics sessions. Our PE session will be on Tuesdays each week.
During their time in Reception, children will continue on their journey of learning to read and write. Phonics is taught daily, following the ‘Twinkl Phonics Scheme’. In addition to this, children will take part in daily English and Maths sessions. Other areas of learning link to our half termly topics. Whilst we follow these topics, all plans are adapted to follow children’s interests which are ultimately, at the centre of everything we do.
Communication with parents is via Class Dojo. We invite parents to share children’s achievements with school, so that these can be celebrated with the class.
